Flying Start
The Welsh government Funded Flying Start services are available to children and their families whose address comes under certain postcodes and catchment areas. There are many services that Flying Start offers, one of which is the child care element that we provide as a setting.
The child care element is offered to 2-3 year olds and their entitlement runs from the term after they turn 2 until the end of the term in which they turn 3. The child is central to everything that we do and the aim is to provide each child with the care and support that they may need in order to become confident, independent learners. In order to do this Flying Start encourages us as professionals to work closely with other agencies such as speech and language, health visiting, dieticians and any other agencies who are available throughout the Flying Start programme who can offer support at the earliest possible opportunity.
Flying Start settings are based within local schools, private day nurseries and are available in both the English and welsh mediums. Spaces are offered by the Flying Start office. In order to retain the child care space children must attend at least 80% of the time which amounts to 4 out of 5 days per week.
